OTTAWA, ONTARIO Speed Skating Canada is pleased to announce the launch its newly designed website at www.speedskating.ca, the modernized online home for all things related to Canadian speed skating.
This new website will provide the organizations 12,000 plus members with improved access to information, while giving those new to speed skating a centralized location to learn more about the sport and better connect with over 150 local clubs. The re-designed online platform will help highlight our National and NextGen team athletes, while also promoting national and international competitions.
Were very excited to finally launch Speed Skating Canadas new and improved website! It was an extremely complex undertaking but were thrilled with the outcome. Our staff put a lot of work into redeveloping the content to help reach a broader audience and we feel confident that all types of visitors from athletes to coaches, official to volunteers, and fans alike will be able to find information on our incredible sport more easily than ever before. Nicole Espenant, Director, Marketing and Engagement, Speed Skating Canada
The new Speed Skating Canada website was developed in collaboration with Vancouver-based design agency Will Creative Inc., who previously worked on the organizations rebrand and the recently announced extension of that branding to the countrys Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations (PTSOs).
The websites responsive design is clean and uncluttered, integrating brand colours and fonts with an emphasis on high quality imagery. The new and improve online home for speed skating features over 60 athlete and coach profiles, 80 webpages, 150 documents and resources, 500 photos and 30,000 words of newly written content.
Highlights on the new speedskating.ca include:
- Learn About Speed Skating: A detailed section where visitors can learn more about both short track and long track, including the history and rules of each discipline, along with a list of national and international records and medal winning performances.
- Find a Club: With over 150 clubs across Canada, in every province and territory, we can all experience the thrill of racing on ice. If visitors are interested in giving speed skating a try, they can use the interactive Find a Club tool to locate a club near them.
- Athlete Profiles: Canada has long been a dominant force on the international stage and now visitors can learn more about each member of our National and NextGen teams thanks to in-depth athlete profiles that include biographies, fun facts, results and photos.
- Safe Sport: As part of our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment at all levels of our sport, weve outlined our Safe Sport framework and compiled a comprehensive list of resources on topics such as abuse, harassment, mental health, equity, diversity, concussions and anti-doping.
- Community: The speed skating community is made up of many different stakeholder groups, from athlete to coaches, officials to volunteers, clubs to supporters. Visitors can now access information on each of those groups and learn more about how to get involved in the sport.
- Resource Library: A centralized document library will allow visitors to easily find and download all types of resources, including bylaws, policies, high performance bulletins and technical coaching and officiating forms.
The launch of the new website is a major milestone in achieving the goal of Organizational Excellence outlined in Speed Skating Canadas 2018-2023 Strategic Plan, building the profile of speed skating in Canada through enhanced marketing practices that raise awareness of the sport and inspire participation and retention.
